VEUVE CLICQUOT TOWER is a sculpture designed by Luca Trazzi, designer and founding partner of www.designboom.com.
It's a "time capsule" which interprets and reinvents the design of the Champagne bottle and containing, in the unmistakable yellow Clicquot, the dream of a new woman and the symbols of the patrimony of the Maison:
- HôTel du Marc in Reims, quintessence of art de vivre à la française, open only to invited guests from Veuve Clicquot to discover the Cuvée and the history of Maison;
- Chalk cellars, a priceless relics made between the gallo-Roman era and the eighteenth century. 24 km in the subsoil of the Champagne, a journey into the heart and soul of the Maison;
- the anchor, symbol of hope of Christian origin, chosen by Philippe Clicquot, founder of the Maison, as a trademark for the CAP, only hallmark before the appearance of labels. A wish of prosperity for the young company as evidenced by shipment to St. Petersburg in 1814: Madame Clicquot, with courage and audacity, challenged the continental system and was able to bring its wines in Russia, a triumphant success;
- the Comet, or rather the year of the Comet, the 1811, When a comet crossed the skies of Champagne, omen of an excellent crop. Madame Clicquot who had an exceptional Vintage, the Comet Wine, that brought her fame beyond the borders, establishing the excellent reputation of Maison;
- the daring art of jug, adopted solely by Veuve Clicquot among all Maison de Champagne.
Veuve Clicquot is scaraffa his Demi-Sec, Champagne is ideal for consumption at the time of desserts.
The wine is poured into a carafe a few minutes before being served; in a jug, and unsung, as the Champagne is already clear and sediment do not exist to be deleted. Doing so emphasizes its gorgeous Golden hue.
QThis ritual is a tribute to Madame Clicquot: before Madame Clicquot la table de invent remuage in 1816, the Champagne had to be decanted to make it more clear and perfectly presentable. In sensory terms, pour the Champagne into a carafe increases the roundness. Removing the energy bubbles, the wine opens up and becomes richer, a wonderful feeling to finish your meal.
VEUVE CLICQUOT TOWER guards, in a backlit wall in front of the entrance, the Champagne as the Atelier de Dégustation at the Hôtel du Marc and how gypsum quarries which, dug by the Romans in Reims from the 4th century a.d.. and transformed into wine cellars, protect and accompany the aging of the bottles.
The installation consists of metal elements that formed the calendered and support structure inside the dome, symbolizing the bubbles of Champagne and wine cellars of the Maison. Frames made of metal rods envelop the interior space by creating a play of transparencies.
Four neon chandeliers reinvents the Comet symbol of Maison inspired by the encounter between two stars: Madame Clicquot and Halley's Comet, they crossed the sky in 1811 giving to the world one of the best vintages of all time. The result is an intriguing and fascinating light, with bright splashes of lightness and the universe of Champagne. The weather and the history of Maison Veuve Clicquot meet in magic of light.
The combination of new and old intends in the dialogue between the installation, the Torre Velasca of Bbpr is an, with its 106 feet tall towers in the city, and the Colonnade of the courtyard of the ' 600 Florentine architect Filarete, where the purity of the rhythmic succession of arches of the courtyard is from the counterbalance exuberance of terracotta decorations.
"I was fascinated by my visit to Reims to Veuve Clicquot archives. I could read in the records, meticulously prepared, that the first shipment of Champagne was made in Venice even in 1772, shortly after the Foundation "– said Luca Trazzi. "I have decided to pay tribute to Madame Clicquot, a single woman who has revolutionized the world of Champagne, in the context of expression most congenial of Maison, the Design».
