Part today by the Consorzio di tutela Prosecco DOC the official request for release from storage to the regions of Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia on the basis of the decision taken last Thursday 12 June from its Board of Directors has approved the release of more than 100.000 hectolitres of wine suitable become Prosecco DOC. The fee so liberated, equal to 5,1 % of the total production, partly with the harvest stored conservatively 2013, go to meet the growing demand for the product and will allow producers to enter the market as Prosecco Doc with better remuneration.
The news more interesting but we read between the lines and it says the President Stefano Zanette (in the picture): "This is a further confirmation of the positive trend of sales of Prosecco DOC that stands out in a context of generalized contraction of consumption. On the eve of harvest 2013 the most optimistic prediction advocated the absorption, by the market, the whole new production, taking into account expected increases at the rate of at least 10% compared to the previous year. Today we can say that not only the objective was achieved but even exceeded. Then about one third (29,3%) of the product stored in the logic to handle the delicate balance between supply and demand which determines the value of the goods, is released means that governance policies implemented by the Consortium are a step in the right direction ".
To satisfy the most demanding from a technical point of view, the note released today by the consortium of producers reads chain so:
"In reference to the regional Decrees that have enabled the measurement of storage for the harvest 2013, the Consortium's Board of Directors at its meeting on 12 June 2014 voted to allocate the share of wine being stored as follows:
– for the second year vineyards (surrender to the 60%): the amount of wine obtained from grapes which exceed the 87 100 kg up to 92, the production of DOC wines Prosecco, While the remainder, up to the maximum allowed yield, the production of wines PGI and/or varietal wines without indication to the reference variety Glera;
– for all other vineyards (to full potential): the amount of wine obtained from grapes which exceed i 145 100 kg up to 153, the production of DOC wines Prosecco, While the remainder, up to the maximum allowed yield, the production of wines PGI and/or varietal wines without indication to the reference variety Glera ".
"In a nutshell – concludes the President Zanette – analyses carried out by the consortium through special research institutes, including The CIRVE of the University of Padova, on the one hand, confirm all vintage forecasts, duly validated by the results in the cellar, on the other hand the living need to careful management of the flows of the market with the use of tools such as storage. Everything in order to avoid dangerous market swings, meet with operators, especially international, they need stability. And to ensure the Prosecco DOC the right economic values so as not to undermine one of the main ingredients of Prosecco: the quality of the product that goes hand in hand with consumer safety ".
