Translate the Moscato di Scanzo magic in a DNA sequence. Is the challenge, won, of Consortium of the Moscato di Scanzo DOCG and of the CIRIVEInterdepartmental Centre for innovation research in viticulture and enology at the University of Milan. The result? The project, born in recent years under a financing of MIPAF – Ministero delle Politiche Agricole Alimentari e Forestali called "Exploitation of the main Italian vines and their "terroir”, intends to achieve, in the coming years, the approval and registration of clones of interest and complementary national register of vine variety, to establish vineyards capable of expressing the highest production and quality. “Two are our main goals – explains the President of the consortium of the Moscato di Scanzo DOCG Angelica Cuni – . On the one hand, preserve the history and the distinctive imprint of our millennial wine: It is likely that the black grape varieties were in the area already at the end of the 14th century. On the other hand protect it and make it grow even as, through careful clonal selection. We are very proud to be the pioneers and forerunners of this project, that is carrying nationally to the mapping and sequencing of other 50 Italian vines, that will be presented in a special meeting during Vinitaly 2013 ".
